This is a small day care is run by Maphuti in one nice classroom in a proper house with one toilet, but no outside space. It has one cook and one teacher. The teacher has done high school up to Grade 11.

This medium-sized creche is 3 years old. It has 3 practitioners of which 2 have done an ECD course. It is one of the most active centres: the principal, Mary, and teachers are very keen to learn more. It has 3 classrooms and one toilet.

One of our biggest creches, run by Thabo with two teachers and one cook. It has two nice classrooms and nice outside space.

This day care is operating in a church building – this is its one big classroom, and it has a container for storage and a kitchen.

A large creche with 3 classes – for older kids, smaller kids and babies. Two classrooms are nice containers, but the the creche needs better structures for the kitchen and third classroom. It has a trampoline and small swing but would like a jungle gym. The principal teacher Melidah was doing a teachers’ diploma but wasn’t able to finish due to financial issues. She runs the creche excellently, her teaching is great and administration is always in order.

A very small creche, run by Emily, with just a handful young children up to the age of 2. They have a lot of outdoor space, but only one one small classroom and really need a proper structure. They have a very small plastic jungle gym but limited other resources.

This creche, run by Albertina, has the best structure: it has two classrooms in a proper brick building, but their kitchen needs work and they require more furniture and learning aids. They have a jungle gym outside and a good outside space at the back and the front, but no shade cloths.

This creche, run by Maria, is really thriving. They have a good veggie garden and three engaged teachers. It has two nice classrooms in new, painted containers but the kitchen needs some work. Has a great outdoor space with a shade cloth, built-in trampoline and playground.

This large creche has two nice new containers after their last structure sadly burnt down in a tragic fire in 2013. They also have a nice office area and kitchen. The principal teacher Julia is a qualified ECD practitioner. They are limited in outdoor space with no jungle gym and need new toilets.

This medium-sized creche, run by Patience, has been completely transformed over the last year with a nice new pre-fab classroom. It has good outdoor space with a shade cloth and swing but the road leading up to the creche is very poor. The teacher would really like to do formal ECD training.

One of our biggest creches with two classrooms, a kitchen and toilets for adults and children. Run by Annah, it also has a playground that needs some work to be suitable for different outdoor activities. Only one of the three teachers has completed matric.

This creche, run by Janet, has two nice classrooms with two teachers and one cook. It is overcrowded but the space is a challenge to try to expand the creche. It has a small yard with a small playground.

This is one of the our newest creches. It has one classroom (in a shack) and one toilet. The principal teacher, Pauline, is currently studying for her ECD level 7 certificate. This creche doesn’t have enough space.

A large creche with two classes that’s doing well. Owner Lizzy is a teacher in a Montessori school and principal Emma regularly attends the ECD course. Has a small kitchen but needs to be done up. They have a nice, well-fenced outdoor space with a small swing, but no jungle gym.

A medium-sized creche with one class in one small classroom and a nice kitchen. However, space is an issue. Run by Lina, it has a jungle gym outside, two new children’s toilets and a nice fence.

A small creche, with just one very small classroom outside the teacher Selina’s home and one toilet. It has a small swing. Selina is keen to learn and has attended a number of short courses.

A small creche with just one classroom currently, but the teacher, Ruth, is working with the council to expand and get more space so that she can take on more children.

A small creche looking after little children all under the age of 2. Run by Maria, it has in a small structure in a poor area with very little space.

One of the small creches with not much space – just one classroom and one toilet. The teacher, Zandile, has passed Grade 7.

This is a one-classroom creche with two teachers. The principal, Elizabeth, has done an ECD Course. They struggle for space and are currently busy adding an additional classroom.

A small creche with two small classrooms (in shacks) and a spacious playground. The teacher, Patience, currently has to cook in the classroom as it lacks a kitchen: this is a major need.

A very large creche with over 50 children in three classrooms (in shacks) with two toilets but limited outside space. The principal, Adelaide, is really engaged and has completed an ECD qualification, and two teachers regularly attend our ECD courses. Only two teachers out of six have matriculated.
